Android TV is one of the most flexible ways to watch IPTV. Because these boxes use the Google Play store, installing a player app takes about a minute, and most models have a network port for a rock-solid connection.
This page covers IPTV on Android TV boxes and on TVs from Sony, TCL, Hisense and others that run Google TV built in. Streaming dongles have their own page for Chromecast and the Google TV Streamer.
Five steps, and the slowest part is usually typing the password.
Not every box sold online is equal. The ones that work best for IPTV share a few things in common:
Many recent Sony, TCL and Hisense TVs run Google TV as their main menu. In that case you do not need a separate box: the steps above work on the TV itself. The only difference is power. Budget TVs use modest processors, so if the guide feels sluggish, a dedicated box or an NVIDIA Shield will feel noticeably faster.
Clear the player app’s cache under Settings > Apps, and uninstall apps you do not use. Restart the box once a week.
Check for updates to both the app and the box. Low storage is the other common cause, so free up some space.
Use a cable, or switch the box to your router’s 5 GHz network. Our buffering tips cover the rest.
